Wine (Douro DOC)

The red ROMEU wine and the white JULIETA are produced, bottled and sold.

The red wine is made with the Touriga Nacional grape variety, covering more than half of the vineyards and the remaining area includes the Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, Tinta Amarela, Souzão and Tinto Cão varieties.
The red wine is made from a wide array of old grape varieties from the Casa Menéres, plus the Verdelho, Viosinho and Arinto varieties.

Port wine is also produced since 1880 although it is not sold directly to the public.

The vineyards are of certified organic agriculture and coexist in a diversified mosaic displaying olive and cork-tree groves of the “Rede Natura 2000” (Natura 2000 Network). The average altitude is of 300m, the land spreads up the slopes, soils are of schist origin and rainfall is scare, with hot summers and cold winters.
This is the northernmost “island” of the Douro Demarcated Region.

The red wines, aged in oak barrels, can normally be stored for a long time.
These are full bodied wines, exploding with flavour and aroma and leaving a long lasting aftertaste.Average production: approx. 50,000 litres in 25 ha.
